With the global energy transition projects and the growth of renewable energy, Kiekens-DSH participates in the development of steam desuperheaters that can be used for Long Duration Energy Storage Systems (LDESS).

Superheated so-called green steam of about 700 °C is generated from a natural source, after which the steam is cooled close to saturation temperature, with a high-water injection rate to achieve optimum efficiency grade.
